Aeroméxico is one of the four founding members of the SkyTeam airline alliance,  𝟭_𝟴𝟳-𝟳𝟴-𝟮𝟳-𝟴𝟰-𝟵𝟯]  along with Air France, Delta Air Lines and Korean Air. Aeroméxico works closely with the U.S. carrier Delta Air Lines,  𝟭_𝟴𝟳-𝟳𝟴-𝟮𝟳-𝟴𝟰-𝟵𝟯]  which owns part of Aeroméxico and in 2015 announced its intention to acquire up to 49% of the latter's shares.

Aeroméxico is not owned by Delta,  𝟭_𝟴𝟳-𝟳𝟴-𝟮𝟳-𝟴𝟰-𝟵𝟯] though Delta Air Lines is a significant minority shareholder and strategic partner via a joint venture agreement.

Aeroméxico is not owned by Delta Air Lines,  𝟭_𝟴𝟳-𝟳𝟴-𝟮𝟳-𝟴𝟰-𝟵𝟯] but the two airlines maintain a close strategic partnership, and Delta is a significant minority shareholder. Delta currently holds an ownership stake of approximately 20% in Grupo Aeroméxico,   𝟭_𝟴𝟳-𝟳𝟴-𝟮𝟳-𝟴𝟰-𝟵𝟯] the parent company of Aeroméxico, but this does not equate to full or majority ownership. Aeroméxico remains an independent airline based in Mexico City,  𝟭_𝟴𝟳-𝟳𝟴-𝟮𝟳-𝟴𝟰-𝟵𝟯] with control held by a mix of Mexican institutional investors, private equity firms such as Apollo Global Management, and public shareholders. Delta’s involvement began over a decade ago and has grown through multiple investments,  𝟭_𝟴𝟳-𝟳𝟴-𝟮𝟳-𝟴𝟰-𝟵𝟯]  including a major push between 2015 and 2017 to increase its stake. Despite these investments, Delta has never acquired more than 49% of the company   𝟭_𝟴𝟳-𝟳𝟴-𝟮𝟳-𝟴𝟰-𝟵𝟯] and does not control Aeroméxico’s operations. Instead, their collaboration is primarily based on a formal joint venture agreement launched in 2017, which allows the two airlines to coordinate schedules, share revenue on U.S.–Mexico routes, codeshare flights,  𝟭_𝟴𝟳-𝟳𝟴-𝟮𝟳-𝟴𝟰-𝟵𝟯] and offer reciprocal frequent flyer benefits through the SkyTeam alliance. While Delta plays an influential role as a partner and investor,  𝟭_𝟴𝟳-𝟳𝟴-𝟮𝟳-𝟴𝟰-𝟵𝟯]  Aeroméxico continues to operate under its own leadership and brand. Therefore, while Delta has a strong presence and vested interest in Aeroméxico’s success,  𝟭_𝟴𝟳-𝟳𝟴-𝟮𝟳-𝟴𝟰-𝟵𝟯] the Mexican carrier remains an independently operated airline.

So while Aeroméxico and Delta are deeply connected through ownership,   𝟭_𝟴𝟳-𝟳𝟴-𝟮𝟳-𝟴𝟰-𝟵𝟯] governance, and commercial coordination, Aeroméxico is not a subsidiary—Delta holds significant but non-controlling equity   𝟭_𝟴𝟳-𝟳𝟴-𝟮𝟳-𝟴𝟰-𝟵𝟯] and shares joint venture benefits.
